Although the male genitalia are much simpler in structure compared to females, men's sweat glands are more active and they often engage in heavy physical activities. Therefore, the intimate area of men is also at a high risk of becoming damp and developing an unpleasant odor.

Epidemiological, clinical and laboratory studies have implicated solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation in various skin diseases including premature aging of the skin and melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. Chronic UV radiation exposure-induced skin diseases or skin disorders are caused by the excessive induction of inflammation, oxidative stress and DNA damage, etc.. The use of chemo-preventive agents, such as plant polyphenols, to inhibit these events in UV-exposed skin is gaining attention. Chemoprevention refers to the use of agents that can inhibit, reverse, or retard the process of these harmful events in the UV-exposed skin.

The development of antiretroviral therapies to fight human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection has led to a significant decrease in mortality and morbidity among infected populations. Nevertheless, the emergence of viral resistant strains to drugs is causing serious clinical and public health problems throughout the world. Resistance to one drug often results in cross-resistance to others in the same class. Mangiferin (1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxy-C2-β-D-glucoside, Figure 1) is found in many plants, including Anacardiaceae and Rhizoma anemarrhenae.  This chemical is a constituent of folk medicines and can be synthesized easily. In the present study, Mangiferin was confirmed to have good anti-HIV-1 activity.
